Prolody develops software applications for the analysis and synthesis of expressive speech. The company aims to encourage and improve the interaction of humans and technology.
The company has developed a module of artificial speech synthesis which creates expressions in text-to-speech and can be added to voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, or Google. Currently, the module supports the Dutch language and is utilised on a voice-call application, Pebbel Nabij, which makes use of the social robot, named Pepper. Prolody is also working on the social robot ROSE and is improving its speech-to-text function. Ultimately, this module serves to enhance social robots’ empathy toward their human interlocutors.
