Two things companies need to do in a world of AI Agents

The rise of AI Agents is leading to a fundamental shift in how organizations operate and compete. When technology becomes cheap and widely available, operational efficiency is no longer a differentiator. So what is left for companies to really stand out? Below are the two crucial steps you need to take.

1. Throw away all technology

Start with an imaginary exercise: get all the technology out of your organization. What is left then? What core values, competencies and sources of knowledge or data make you stand out?

  • Unique data or expertise: Do you have exclusive data, in-depth expertise or a special methodology?
  • Special customer relationships: Does your strength lie in how you serve customers, or in the customer journey that you offer?
  • Access to specific channels: Do you have a network or distribution channels that others don't have?

Everything that remains after you “think away” technology is the essence of your business. That's what you should cherish and use.

2. Strengthen that core with AI Agents

Once you have clear what you really excel at, use AI Agents to strengthen those distinguishing points:

  • Automating peripheral tasks: Let AI Agents take over repetitive processes so that your team can focus on the core of your differentiating value.
  • Smarter data analysis: Unique data becomes even more valuable when you use AI Agents to gain in-depth insights and make decisions faster.
  • Personalization at scale: Use AI Agents for customer interactions so you can fine-tune and scale your services in a much more focused way.

In a world of AI Agents, the real competitive advantage no longer lies in owning technology, but in strengthening and harnessing your intrinsic strength.

In short:

  1. Throw away all the technology and discover what makes you truly unique.
  2. Use AI Agents specifically to make that core of your organization even stronger.

This is the way to stay relevant and valuable in a future where technology is less and less an exclusive asset, but a prerequisite. Go back to your raison d'être and expand your strategy from there.

So the ham question is: what unique core of your company are you going to strengthen with AI Agents?
