You should pay attention to these 4 things when working with Microsoft Copilot
Here are Microsoft's Copilots

More and more companies are exploring the possibilities of Microsoft Copilot, especially after the recent update, it is also increasingly working in the Dutch language. With Copilot, Microsoft is introducing a successor to Bing-Chat, a safe environment for using language models with a GPT model under the hood.

Why do companies find this so interesting? First of all, Copilot guarantees the security of company data within its own environment. This reduces the fear of accidentally sharing sensitive information with unsecured language models. In addition, it integrates seamlessly with Microsoft's standard programs, making it an organic part of existing systems rather than an isolated tool.

But note, there are four crucial aspects to keep in mind when using Microsoft Copilot. Here they are:

  1. Rights structure: Setting the right rights structure is essential. This determines who can ask Copilot which questions. Improper configuration may result in accidental disclosure of confidential information, such as salaries or performance reviews.
  2. Prompting remains essential: Copilot is not a one-stop tool. It's just a safe environment for language models in your own work environment. So it remains very important that employees understand how to formulate good prompts and communicate effectively with the model.
  3. Prevent “AI suspicion”: Think carefully about Copilot's specific applications within your organization. Uncontrolled use can lead to ethical and privacy issues, especially in confidential conversations such as bilateral meetings. Provide clear guidelines about when and how Copilot will be deployed.
  4. Realistic expectations: Copilot is powerful, but not a magic solution to all organizational problems. It can increase productivity and make work more fun, but only if it is properly embedded in the organization and with realistic expectations.

Understanding and implementing these aspects when using Microsoft Copilot is vital. It is not a panacea, but a valuable tool that must be used with care.
